Unit description

Focuses on the nature of science and key concepts in chemistry, physics and biology. Students will learn to use scientific language and to communicate processes and concepts.

Unit content

Studying science:

  • Introduction to science and science communications

Key concepts in data analysis:

  • Introduction to graphs and variables
  • Introduction to data interpretation

Key concepts in biology:

  • Introduction to body systems, cells, and homeostasis
  • The cardiovascular and respiratory systems

Key concepts in physics:

  • Weight force and Newton’s laws of motion

Key concepts in chemistry:

  • Atoms, elements, organising matter, and chemical bonds
  • Chemical formulae, moles, formula masses, and solutions

Learning outcomes
