Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

explain the relationship between molecular and morphological structure and the properties of fibres

describe the structure and properties of a range of textile yarns and fabric

identify the use of finishing techniques to enhance fabric performance

identify principles and processes of colour to fibres, yarns and fabrics

apply a range of functional and aesthetic tests to evaluate fabric properties

identify appropriate fabrics for a range of end uses

critically analyse the history of and contemporary aspects for the Australian Textile, Clothing and Footwear Industries.
