Learning outcomes
Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
discuss the use of textiles, the characteristic design features and the factors which influence these in different cultures
outline the impact of historical events and technological developments on the textile industry and textile use across the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries
identify the design features characteristic of textile items in different historical periods
analyse the historical and cultural influences on contemporary textile design and designers including that of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures
outline the development and significance of the textile industry In Australia from the beginning to the establishment of the ATCF&AI
critique the past, present and future social, economic and environmental impacts of the textile industry internationally and in Australia
discuss the current issues facing the ATCF&A industry.
