Learning outcomes and graduate attributes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

1 demonstrate a broad and critical understanding of the concepts and content of Stage 6, including recent theory and research in the discipline, contemporary perspectives and issues, and cultural contexts of relevance

3 develop engaging and effective units of work and lesson plans related to selected theoretical and practical content and learning outcomes from the Stage 6 syllabi, demonstrating familiarity with the required syllabus outcomes, objectives, key competencies, knowledge, skills and understandings
4 apply current pedagogical theory including the NSW DET Quality Teaching Framework to the development of effective teaching and learning strategies that encourage students with a diversity of learning needs, styles, and cultural backgrounds to engage effectively with English in Stage 6
5 exhibit a well-developed ability to utilise a range of strategies to assess student achievement of learning outcomes, to recognise how learners use their current understanding to discover, develop and incorporate new skills, knowledge and understanding, and to report the achievement of learning outcomes
6 identify and critically examine assessment and reporting procedures and strategies in the context of the Preliminary and HSC standards-referenced assessment framework
7 prepare units of work and marking criteria using outcomes in the Stage 6 Syllabus with a particular emphasis on either: reading/writing, listening/speaking or viewing/representing.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
