Learning outcomes
Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.
On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
explain the relevance of human development theories for engaging with people at different points in the lifespan
explain the potential and scope of social work practice with people across the lifespan, particularly with respect to health and wellbeing, and in building resilience and facilitating recovery
critically evaluate the ways in which social workers can work with individuals, groups and communities to respond effectively to health and disability needs, particularly with respect to mental health
demonstrate social work practice skills in assessing and working with people with mental health needs and their partners, family members and friends.
