Learning outcomes
Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
explain the necessary communication principles and skills to work in particular social work contexts and modes of practice, such as crisis intervention, relationship counselling, and family therapy
critically evaluate different practice theories relevant to particular social work contexts and modes of practice, such as strengths perspective, cognitive-behavioural therapy, and narrative therapy
demonstrate effective communication skills in working with involuntary clients and their partners or families
demonstrate effective written communication skills for social work practice in a range of settings.
