Builds on skills and knowledge gained in WEL91004 Social Work Direct Practice I. Examines effective communication within specific contexts and modes of practice, including crisis intervention, relationship counselling and family therapy. Develops skills in writing for social work practice.

explain the necessary communication principles and skills to work in particular social work contexts and modes of practice, such as crisis intervention, relationship counselling, and family therapy

critically evaluate different practice theories relevant to particular social work contexts and modes of practice, such as strengths perspective, cognitive-behavioural therapy, and narrative therapy

demonstrate effective communication skills in working with involuntary clients and their partners or families

demonstrate effective written communication skills for social work practice in a range of settings.
