Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

describe the purpose and theoretical underpinnings of a range of groups in social work practice

demonstrate an understanding of the social worker's role in establishing, enabling and facilitating a range of service user groups including self advocacy , support, psycho-educational and therapeutic groups

bring a social work perspective to a range of interdisciplinary team settings, including care team approaches in child and family practice

apply a community development framework to a complex community issue, in a culturally safe manner

articulate the principles and dimensions of human rights and community development in decolonised social work practice
