Learning outcomes and graduate attributes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

1 employ a Speech Pathology assessment protocol including: conducting an initial interview, taking a case history, administering a standardised test and collecting speech and language samples
2 apply transcription and analysis procedures to speech, language and communication samples (including samples from standardised tests), interpret clinical data using the ICF framework (with guidance) and explain clinical decisions
3 identify intervention targets and formulate intervention plans (collaboratively with the Speech Pathology clinical educator) and, with guidance, implement intervention that is tailored to a particular child's speech, language and pre-literacy profile and is in line with best practice guidelines and evidence-based practice information
4 apply interpersonal communication skills to interact with clients and caregivers in an engaging, sensitive, supportive, responsive and productive manner during assessment and intervention contexts
5 with guidance, appraise responses to intervention measure outcomes, provide verbal and written feedback on results of intervention, make appropriate recommendations and referrals and use effective professional reporting (oral and written)
6 demonstrate professional and ethical behaviour and reflect and report accurately on performance as a student clinician
7 demonstrate an ability to be inquiring and reflective in practice and via a reflective journal and portfolio.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
