Unit description

Introduces students to speech pathology assessment and interventions for children with speech and language disorders of a developmental nature. Students will become familiar with common assessment and intervention methods that are relevant to speech pathology practice in Australia and will have opportunity to develop skills in analysing and interpreting data and planning interventions.

Unit content

This unit will be divided into two modules:

  • Speech and speech sound disorders in children
  • Language and developmental language disorders in children

The content of this unit will mostly consider speech and language disorders in the context of Standard Australian English although students will be encouraged to consider application of knowledge and skills in the context of working within culturally and linguistically diverse societies.
