Learning outcomes and graduate attributes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

1 explain the characteristics of communication across the lifespan and in different contexts
2 describe (with examples) disorders of communication and swallowing and compile a glossary of related terminology.
3 describe the general impact of disorders of communication and swallowing, using the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health and Children and Youth version (ICF and ICF-CY) frameworks (World Health Organization).
4 reflect upon the Scope of Practice in Speech Pathology, the Code of Ethics and the Competency- based Occupational Standards (CBOS).
5 demonstrate professional behaviour and describe the role of the Speech Pathologist within inter-professional practice.
6 demonstrate skills in oral and written communication and beginning practices for lifelong learning (such as developing a reflective journal).
7 describe notions of multimodality and interprofessional practice.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
