Learning outcomes
Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.
On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
design intervention plans for children with SSD and DLD, integrating assessment data to prioritise intervention targets
select and justify evidence-based interventions for speech sound disorders (SSD) and developmental language disorders (DLD), based on the unique needs of individual children and preventative or curriculum delivered interventions that support early school years literacy acquisition
demonstrate person-centered, family-centred, and culturally responsive knowledge and approaches in intervention, utilising resources and strategies to support children from diverse backgrounds
describe how SLPs can ensure interventions are tailored to the child’s educational, social, and linguistic profiles and context, while evaluating outcomes and adjusting interventions as needed for short or long-term timeframes
