Unit description

Provides students with a theoretical and practical overview of sport tourism with global and Australian examples. Adopts a teacher/student interaction during which students acquire an understanding of the theory and practice. Unit looks at the historical development of sport tourism, provides conceptual frameworks and sport tourism models and introduces business practices that outline the symbiotic relationship between sport and tourism, and finally introduces contemporary issues.

  • Defining sport, tourism and the relationship between sport and tourism
  • Historical development of sport tourism Theoretical perspectives
  • Theories relating to sport and tourism
  • Models and classifications relating to sport and tourism Contemporary issues in Sport tourism
  • Contemporary issues in sport tourism at the local, national and international levels.
