Learning outcomes
Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.
On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
critically analyse sociological perspectives about the nature of deviance in a changing society
identify the formal and informal processes by which people come to be regarded as being deviant in terms of power relations within society
recognise the problems and uncertainties which are associated with people being cast as deviant
relate an example of contemporary deviant behaviours to processes of personal and societal change.
