Unit description

Students identify a suitable science research or professional science project and seek out an academic faculty researcher to supervise them. Students will integrate various skills gained throughout their degree to design methodology suited to the study question(s), apply graphical and analytical methods to analyse and present data, and generate appropriate conclusions for end users. Students prepare a project proposal and a final report. The Integrated Project requires independent critical thinking and prepares students for the transition into professional life undertaking future research studies.

Unit content

The Integrated Project requires students to work on a topic with a supervisor. On-campus students will work on campus with a supervisor and online students will work online with their supervisor. Shared unit instructions will be delivered by the unit assessor via Blackboard. Therefore, there is no syllabus.

Learning outcomes

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

design and propose a meaningful project (to a professional standard) and consider implementation requirements

demonstrate creative skills in project design and information acquisition, graphical illustration and analysis

appraise existing literature, knowledge gaps and methodologies relevant to the study questions

compose a professional-quality report that assembles the study findings to support objective interpretations and conclusions for end users.
