Unit description

This capstone unit guides students to commence a final year research project. Students will work in teams to develop an impactful research project plan which will include project rationale, a literature review and project methods, which are assessed in this unit. They will also be expected to consider any ethical or social implications of their research. They will commence fieldwork that will be completed in Impactful Science and Practice 2. A project proposal is produced that includes a literature review of knowledge in their chosen discipline

Learning outcomes

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

propose and effectively plan a team-based approach to address the identified problem

select and apply an appropriate approach and methodology to collect and accurately record data through systematic inquiry

apply complexity thinking incorporating consideration of ethics, stakeholders and diverse cultural and disciplinary perspectives to identify and analyse a complex problem related to scientific research or professional practice.
