    This unit includes a compulsory residential at an SCU campus in week 6. Students must successfully complete the residentials before progressing to placement. Those unable to attend should enrol in this unit only when they are able to participate in the required residentials.


Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

apply skills in interviewing and counselling, developing the therapeutic relationship, responding to client preferences (including cultural and social) and engage in interprofessional collaboration

evaluate, select, and implement a range of evidence-based psychological interventions for adults, considering individual client needs and presenting issues

formulate treatment plans, and assess, monitor and manage risk, progress and outcomes

reflect on the experience of adapting psychological interventions to be responsive to client preferences (including cultural and social)
