Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

differentiate developmentally typical behaviour from indicators of common psychological or developmental disorders, considering contextual and cultural factors

critically evaluate assessment and classification systems used in child and adolescent psychopathology, applying evidence-based and culturally responsive principles

administer, interpret, and communicate results from standardised psychological assessments in developmentally and culturally appropriate ways, and evaluate the strengths and limitations of different assessment methods and modes of delivery in varied practice contexts

identify signs of risk of harm in children and adolescents who may need protection and take appropriate action in accordance with ethical, and professional requirements
