Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

exercise judgement and critical thinking to assess claims that arise from myth, stereotype, pseudoscience or untested assumptions and recognise and defend against the major fallacies of human thinking

apply psychological concepts, theories and research findings to build creative and innovative response to problems in everyday life and society

demonstrate knowledge of core topics in the area of personality and social psychology

write effectively in a variety of formats and for a variety of purposes

demonstrate knowledge of how privilege, power, and oppression may impact prejudice, discrimination, and inequity

demonstrate effective oral communication skills

demonstrate understanding of and respect for social cultural, linguistic spiritual and gender diversity.
