Unit description

Introduces students to the fundamentals of positive psychology, which is associated with wellbeing and human thriving. Students will engage with the evidence for positive psychology interventions and become familiar with areas of dissent. The unit incorporates experiential and reflexive learning as well as covering theory and research in positive psychology.

  1. An introduction to positive psychology
  2. Emotions and health
  3. Unpacking the variables: stress, anxiety, depression, wellbeing, resilience, quality of life, and others
  4. Unpacking the approaches: savouring, self-compassion, flow, gratitude, and others
  5. Positive relationships
  6. Evaluating outcomes of positive psychology interventions

Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. apply positive psychology principles to professional and/or social challenges
