    This unit contains professional experience learning/ laboratory activities that require students to meet mandatory compliance requirements prior to attending. Failure to comply with these requirements will result in you being unable to undertake the Professional Experience Learning and/or stipulated Laboratory Activity which may result in failure of the unit. Please note Full Covid-19 vaccination is a mandatory requirement associated with the placement element of this unit of study. This requirement has been stipulated by the placement providers. It is strongly recommended that only students who meet this requirement enrol in this unit.


Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

reflect on learning in the clinical environment and develop learning plans

demonstrate effective interpersonal communication skills with diverse client groups

demonstrate competency and capability with clinical systems, procedures and medical records in podiatric practice

apply and practice within relevant legal and regulatory frameworks

perform physical examination and provide safe care to healthy clients

Prescribed Resources/Equipment
    1. Students must purchase their own instrumentation prior to commencement of clinical placement – details on cost and the purchase process will be provided during week one.
    2. Students must wear their SCU uniform during clinic hours, including closed-in black footwear (this does not include runners). Students must wear black trousers (cargo pants and jeans are not acceptable).
