1 explain the relationship between the foot, footwear, an existing orthotic or prosthetic appliance and its fitting and functional principles and limitations
2 apply the principles in selecting, fitting, and modifying prefabricated medical grade footwear for clients with medical foot/footwear issues to improve their quality of life
3 discuss the different materials used in prefabricated footwear, their properties and how to work with them
4 describe and apply design and construction principles of footwear, sports footwear, safety / protective footwear and medical grade footwear for optimal performance
5 explain the special design and functional features of prefabricated medical footwear
6 describe a Pedorthic laboratory, its equipment, materials and Work Health and Safety (WHS) issues

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
