On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
examine the process of self-monitoring of blood glucose and interpret results
compare and contrast glucose lowering medications used in diabetes management
apply nutrition therapy and physical activity guidelines to the management of pre-diabetes and diabetes
discuss the psychosocial issues associated with diabetes self-management and the role of the multidisciplinary healthcare team
