Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

discuss the relationships and referral processes within the multidisciplinary healthcare team

demonstrate problem solving skills to manage hypoglycaemia

explain the use of self-monitoring of blood glucose and interpret results

critically appraise literature and translate evidence into practice

apply nutrition therapy and physical activity guidelines to the management of pre-diabetes and diabetes

compare and contrast glucose lowering medications used in diabetes management

identify the psychosocial issues associated with diabetes self-management
