Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

identify and explain the signs and symptoms and diagnostic processes of disease identification in patient presentations in the aged care and paediatric domains

describe models of pain management, including the bio-psychosocial model

demonstrate competency in clinical counselling, applying knowledge of the psychological influences on health

demonstrate competency in constructing appropriate lifestyle management plans for patient based on the principles of rehabilitation

critically explore the integration of the osteopathic concept of health and disease with the diagnostic process

demonstrate rational clinical reasoning and problem solving skills in the development of management plans for simulated patient cases.
