Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.
On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
explain the cognitive/mental processes that affect learning and functional performance
discuss characteristics of cognitive impairments impacting on the occupational performance in children and adults with neurological, developmental, learning or mental health disorders.
develop evidence based intervention principles and strategies that include those used by a range of professionals as well as those specific to occupational therapists
design and implement occupational therapy programs that are client-centred and occupation-embedded to address the impact of cognitive impairment on everyday task performance for people with impairments and their families
critically analyse major theoretical frameworks influencing assessment and intervention of cognition
analyse and report how occupational performance is impacted by cognitive impairment
