Unit description

This unit presents and applies principles of learning and systematic instruction that underpin occupational therapy assessment and intervention. Unit content will enable students to understand how people learn, individually and in groups, and how to design and implement evidence-based interventions for both service delivery approaches.

  3. Therapeutic groups
  4. Group formation
  5. Delivery and evaluation of group programs
  6. Service development and delivery of group programs in occupational therapy

Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

apply occupational therapy and biopsychosocial concepts and theories relevant to individual learning and systematic instruction

develop an evidence-based program incorporating goal setting and behaviour support principles for an individual client, within a service context

apply concepts and theories underpinning group work to deliver an evidence-based group program for individuals with specific occupational support needs.

collaboratively conduct a therapeutic group activity
