Learning outcomes
Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.
On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
understand and analyse the personal, interpersonal and cultural significance of personal care and mobility in a person's occupational performance
assess and analyse mobility and personal care routines and tasks
address key factors in developing intervention strategies to enhance mobility (bed, wheelchair and walking mobility, transfers, and seating) and personal care (eating, dressing, bathing, toileting, grooming and personal hygiene)
demonstrate use of safe manual handling, transfer, mobility and personal care techniques
prescribe experiences, equipment, task adaptations, personal assistance and environmental adaptations that address the individual needs of specific people in relation to mobility and personal care routines
identify, initiate and implement programs of intervention, learning and development to enable the safe and effective use of equipment prescribed (such as bath-boards, wheelchairs, hoists, seating and office furniture), task adaptations, personal support and environmental adaptations
evaluate and review the effectiveness of interventions in promoting occupational performance.
