Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. 1 Explain the principles of and demonstrate fundamental skills in the application of nutrition education and counselling strategies to effect behavioural change.
2 Discuss and evaluate the factors which influence nutritional status and to relate these to the diseases/conditions studied in this unit.
3 Critically discuss the nutritional science that explains the relationship between diet/nutrients, lifestyle and the environment in the aetiology of the diseases/conditions discussed in this unit.
4 Translate evidence-based nutrition knowledge into intervention strategies for specific diseases and condition discuss in this unit.
5 Demonstrate knowledge of and skills in the application of elements of the nutrition care process when presented with a problem-based case.
