Unit description

Develops students’ understanding of the relationship between health research and evidence for practice. Students will learn about the process of finding and appraising research and applying research evidence to nursing practice. This unit will develop students’ foundational knowledge and understanding of the research process, including the concepts and principles of health research to practice as a nurse.

Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. discuss the strengths and limitations of various research study designs and the appropriateness of health research methods in improving quality patient care

generate a research question, understand appropriate methodology, and outline ethical considerations

reflect on the importance of the application of evidence-based nursing practice
