    Online enrolment is only available for students admitted to the Master of Integrative Medicine. All other students must enrol into Lismore (weekly) or Gold Coast (intensive) classes. Students are required to attend on-campus classes and/or participate in online activities. Prior knowledge of chemistry and pharmacology is desirable.

Unit description

Examines the fundamentals of botanical medicine, including plant morphology, botanical taxonomy and herbal pharmacognosy and pharmacology, and applies this knowledge to herbal therapeutics and herbal medicine manufacturing.

Learning outcomes

recognise plant morphology and botanical taxonomy

recognise chemical complexity, pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics of medicinal plants

identify specific therapeutic actions and clinical indications of medicinal plants

apply knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice to medicinal plants
