Learning outcomes and graduate attributes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

1 critically discuss (at a beginning level) the common mental health disorders during childbearing including the midwife's role in health promotion, screening, assessment, referral and ongoing therapeutic support
2 systematically search for knowledge/evidence and keep annotated records of results for a relatively simple or common question in practice
3 use clinical reasoning skills to make evidence-informed decisions and assist women to make their own informed decision
4 discuss the legal issue related to working as a midwife including negligence, false imprisonment, defamation, women's legal rights, child safety legalisation and mandatory reporting
5 commence, sustain and reflect upon continuity experiences with their second group of seven pregnant women.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
