Unit description

Strengthens intermediate level skills and knowledge in relation to collaborative music making practices, arrangement, music performance and recording. Students rehearse and record with a small ensemble and participate in practical sessions focused on arranging for strings, horns and electronic sound sources.

  • Writing and arrangement techniques for strings and horns

Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. demonstrate intermediate performance and recording techniques in an ensemble setting on an instrument or singing

apply intermediate-level arrangement techniques for strings, horns, and electronic sound sources

apply intermediate-level music theory principles to ensemble practice, recording and performance.

  • Performance students are required to provide all their own leads, microphones, tuners, drumsticks and metronomes and must wear shoes in the D Block building at all times. Students are to provide their own ear plugs if required.
