Unit description

Examines image-sound relations across a range of screen based contexts, focusing on film music and sound design, live audio visual performance, and interactive game environments. Students analyse and create music/sound works that accompany image tracks.

  • Analysis of screen sound and music
  • Film music composition processes – concept development, spotting, technical processes
  • Functions of film music
  • Use of songs in film
  • Sound design: foley, effects, location recording
  • Live AV – styles and genres, processes and techniques
  • Game sound and virtual worlds
