Unit description

Provides an introduction to the operation of music equipment commonly found in the music industry, Emphasis is placed on providing students with the basic skills required to operate standard contemporary music technology systems, in particular, live sound reinforcement systems and computer-based digital audio recording systems.

  • Overview of contemporary music technology
  • Overview of specific music computer applications
  • Music computer operation and practical techniques.
  • Pre-production, set-up and operation of sound reinforcement technology
  • Staging, fold back and front of house practices
  • Signal flow, cables and connectors
  • Introduction to digital multi-track audio recording
  • Terminology and specifications
