Learning outcomes and graduate attributes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

1 Discuss attraction, and recruitment and selection of the current workforce.
2 Demonstrate an understanding of current practices such as: Employee Assistance Programs (EAP), Occupational Health and Safety (OHS), affirmative action, anti-discrimination, workplace relations and industrial rewards.
3 Identify past and current methods of training in the workplace, Human Resource Development (HRD), performance management systems and performance appraisals.
4 Identify current best practice methods of career and succession planning, coaching, mentoring and extending the working lives of employees.
5 Discuss employability, skills, graduate attributes, boundary-less careers, employment transitions in the public/private sector, SMEs and not-for-profit.
