Unit description

Examines safety compliance at event facilities and venues and how a public event enterprise is designed and operated, and the policies and procedures managers use in operations to maintain facilities to a pre-determined standard of safety. Provides students with the ability to analytically apply the processes of Hazard Management used in Convention, Exhibition and Special Event management. This is achieved by critical analysis and synthesis of recent academic research and innovative industry best practice applied to case study of an event presenting venue.

Unit content

This unit contains 11 topics: hazard recognition workplace environmental hazards, hazardous equipment and substances ergonomics and safe design psychosocial hazards hazard control processes audience management and crowd control site and venue traffic management OH&S management systems incident reporting procedures emergency protocols.
