Unit description

The principal aim of this unit is to provide the students with an advanced understanding of qualitative research methods so that they can evaluate, design and successfully undertake complex postgraduate qualitative research projects in any setting.

This unit covers the following areas of business research methodology: 
Topic 1 Introduction to Qualitative Research in Business and Management 
Topic 2 Paradigms and Theoretical Frameworks
Topic 3 Introduction to Research Design: Ethnographic Research and Case Studies 
Topic 4 Research Design Continued: Action Research and Grounded Theory
Topic 5 Methods: Interviews, Participant Observation and Secondary Documents
Topic 6 Ethics and essential techniques for Researchers

Learning outcomes and graduate attributes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit.
