    This unit involves an industry internship in the sport, health or fitness industry. To equip students for that placement it is assumed that they will have completed a minimum of two years of study in a relevant degree within the School of Health and Human Sciences.

Unit description

A practical, professional workshop in the process of interpreting, organising and delivering recreation programmes and services. Concentrates on programme planning, leadership and evaluation.

  • Elements of conceptualising and planning programmes and events
  • The special characteristics of major or special events
  • The impacts of special events
  • The coordination and administration of special events Risk management in relation to facilities, programmes and special events
  • The evaluation process in relation to programmes and special events
  • The venue, logistics and marketing in relation to programmes and special events
