Unit description

Provides insight into global issues which challenge hotel and tourism development in the 21st century. Adopts a student-focused strategy aimed at students developing an understanding of the contemporary trends by focusing on areas/issues of tourism supply and demand (net).

This unit is structured around topics as follows:

Topic 1: Tourists

Topic 2: Tourism and the media

Topic 3: Risks and crises

Topic 4: Transport: Air, sea, road and rail development

Topic 5: Accommodation: Hotels, resorts, spas and hostels

Topic 6: Emerging markets
