Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

critically analyse and compare theoretical principles and practices of leadership within midwifery, including effective communication skills, that foster effective health care teams

critically analyse adult learning principles and practices that underpin the midwife as educator

explore and explain current theory and evidence-informed practice to midwifery mentor–mentee relationships

discuss the midwife’s role in creating a healthy workplace environment and building professional resilience in self and others
