Learning outcomes
Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
outline the history of health provision from an Australian and global perspective
describe how the philosophy, principles and strategies of primary health care apply to a woman and her family from an Australian and global healthcare perspective
outline differing health beliefs, systems and practices as well as issues and barriers which impact on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and other people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
discuss the principles of cultural safety when interacting with childbearing women, their families and other health professionals in ways that are consistent with the philosophy of midwifery
identify and describe key social determinants of health including culture and ethnicity and the relevance of this to wellbeing, health and illness.
