Learning outcomes
Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.
On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
effectively communicate the physiological factors of major blood group systems that determine their clinical significance in blood transfusions, tissue transplants, pregnancy and immune disorders
evaluate donor screening, blood product preparation and the regulation of transfusion practices in Australia
accurately perform pre-transfusion testing and quality control procedures to select blood products for safe transfusion
investigate clinical transfusion cases to determine appropriate transfusion therapies to improve clinical outcomes
