Students are assumed to have passed a relevant subject in the area of calculus (differentiation and integration) and physics mechanics.
Learning outcomes
Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.
On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
apply fundamental concepts of Newtonian dynamics in plane motion
describe the limits of the theory presented so that the material can be appropriately applied or extended
apply skills to enable mathematical modelling and analysis of simple engineering dynamic systems
apply problem-solving skills in situations where dynamically-generated forces and motions are significant.
