Unit description

Utilises case studies drawn from areas such as public health, nursing, midwifery, sports and exercise science, and biomedical science to equip students with an understanding of contemporary approaches to research and evaluation as applied in real-world settings. Through a process of critical evaluation, personal refection and critical conversations with appointed thesis supervisor/s and colleagues, students will critically review research methodology.

  2. Qualitative methodologies and data collection strategies
  3. Quantitative methodologies and data collection strategies
  4. Mixed methods research
  5. Secondary data analysis
  6. Systematic review and meta-analytic procedures
  7. Principles and practices of sampling and recruitment
  8. Involvement and understanding of writing an ethics proposal
