This unit requires attendance, for all students, at a compulsory, online, six-day practicum/residential (please check the class timetable for details).
Learning outcomes
Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.
On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
explain the nature of public interest advocacy as a field of work and practice
demonstrate an awareness of the key features of legislative, judicial and administrative decision-making in Australia, and of the principal tools of public interest advocacy
develop effective strategies for public interest advocacy in relation to specific issues, using a variety of advocacy techniques and tools
work effectively on processes related to strategic planning and advocacy.
