Unit description

Provides students with the opportunity to plan and execute a substantially independent research project in an area of particular interest that may be related to coursework or professional expertise.  Building on the research skills developed in earlier stages of the degree, students will refine their analytical and critical research skills and produce an academically rigorous research paper.

Unit content

This unit involves undertaking an independent research project and developing a piece of sustained academic writing.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

identify and refine an area of law related research

work independently to plan and execute a research project that demonstrates a coherent understanding and appropriate application of research principles and methods

demonstrate the ability to research ethically to produce a piece of sustained academic writing

write a critical analysis that demonstrates high level academic skills in communication and academic integrity
