Introduces students to the broad concept of entertainment law, with an emphasis on the law of the international film and television business. This unit will equip students with a basic understanding of legal and commercial issues surrounding the practice of entertainment law.

Learning outcomes

describe the commercial environment and the issues that arise in entertainment law practice

explain how intellectual property rights are used in the entertainment industry

identify the principles of contract law implicit in entertainment law, and the most common types of agreements used in the entertainment industry

identify the most relevant legislation applicable to the entertainment industry
