Unit description

Introduces students to the Law of Torts by examining the history and development of torts, and  the   growth of statutory compensation alternatives to traditional actions in Tort. Examines the substantive law by reference to legislation and case-law applicable to  intentional torts, economic torts and the tort of defamation and enables students to obtain an in depth understanding of  newer areas of tortious liability .

    1. Trespass to the Person
    2. Miscellaneous Intentional Torts
    3. Defences to Intentional Torts
  7. Economic Torts:
    1. Deceit
    2. Injurious Falsehood
    3. Passing Off
    4. Misleading and Deceptive Conduct
  8. Economic Torts:
    1. Intentionally Procuring a breach of Contract
    2. Intimidation
    3. Conspiracy
    4. Interference with a trade or Business by Unlawful Means
    5. Misfeasance in a Public Office
  9. Nuisance:
    1. Public Nuisance
    2. Private Nuisance
  10. Defamation:
