Unit description

Introduces students to the law relating to interests in real property by presenting an overview of the history of land law from its beginnings in mediaeval England to present day Australia. It intends to familiarise students with the way in which these interests in real property are transferred.

1 distinguish between the various types of real property interests and systems of title that exist in New South Wales today;
2 recognise the legislative framework in which the various interests in land exist and the significant implications that arise from the different types of interests in land;
3 demonstrate knowledge of some of the documents required for the actual transferring of interests in land, so that they are then able to undertake further study in this area;
4 demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate accurate information about land law.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
