Unit description

Examines Indigenous people’s ways for collaborating and working together in various contexts. Cultural safety, models and methods for integrating community and cultural principles with organisational objectives and governing policies will be explored.

Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

explore and discuss the everyday principles and practices in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and organisations that demonstrate immense contributions to the wider community

evaluate the administrative and human resource systems required to facilitate Indigenous community organisations

critically analyse self-determination principles in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community organisations and businesses
